Paid Live Events

Charge for a live session in your own Discord voice channel. One permanent link sells one seat per payment, and when you go live PayBot opens the room to everyone holding a ticket.

What is an Event?

An Event is a product whose price buys one seat to your next live session, not ongoing membership. The link never expires and never needs replacing. Each payment is a ticket to whichever occurrence comes next.

🎟️ For your buyers

They pay once, and when you start the session PayBot sends them a direct link to the voice channel. Nothing to install, no account to connect.

🎙️ For you

Your voice channel stays private. PayBot opens it to ticket holders at the start of the show and closes it again when you end it.

How an Event flows:

  1. You create the Event and point it at a private voice channel
  2. People buy seats through the link, or through a promo posted in your server
  3. You go live — ticket holders get access and a DM with the channel link
  4. You end the show — tickets are spent, the room closes, and the same link starts selling the next one

Creating an Event

Prerequisites: Complete the initial PayBot setup and connect Stripe first. You also need a voice channel that already denies access to @everyone — PayBot preserves whatever privacy you set, it does not lock the channel for you.

1

Open the product builder

Run /setup in your server, then choose Manage your products…Create Event. You can also create Events from the web dashboard.

/setup
2

Name it and set the price

Give the Event the name your buyers will see — Saturday Options Seminar, Market Open Session — and set a fixed price. Events are one-time payments, not subscriptions.

3

Pick the voice channel

Choose the private voice channel the session runs in. You can also attach optional private text channels that open alongside it.

4

Choose the no-show policy

Decide what happens to someone who buys but never joins: their ticket is consumed like everyone else's, or it carries forward to the next session. This is set per Event.

Already have Events? /setupView & Edit Products opens the live controls for any existing Event.

Selling Seats

Every Event has one permanent payment link. Share it anywhere — your site, a newsletter, social, a DM — and it keeps working forever. You never issue a new link per session.

🔗 One link, always current

A payment through the link buys a seat to the next occurrence. After you end a show, the link immediately starts selling the one after it.

🛒 Buying while you're live

Someone who buys after the session has started gets the same access right away. Late arrivals are not shut out.

No double-buying. If someone already holds a ticket to the current or next session, checkout is refused before it reaches Stripe and the payment page shows Your ticket is ready instead.

Promoting It Inside Your Server

The link is how people outside your server buy. Inside it, you can post the Event straight into your own channels as a promo card and let members buy without leaving Discord.

1

Post the promo

Use Go live + promo from the Event's controls to start the session and announce it in the same action, or run /promo on its own to advertise ahead of time.

/promo
2

Choose the channel and the intro

Pick where it posts. The card carries a short intro above the offer — written for you, written by you, or tightened from your own words — and posts as either you or the server.

3

Members buy on the button

The card shows the offer, the price, and a Get Access button. Tapping it starts checkout bound to that member's Discord account — no account linking, no website, no app switch.

Scheduling: a promo can post once, right now, daily, or weekly. Recurring promos replace the previous one in that channel so you never stack duplicates.

Going Live

/live is the fast way to run a session once the Event exists. One Event opens directly; several show a status picker.

/live

🚪 Access opens

PayBot creates a temporary role for this session, grants it to every ticket holder, and applies it to the voice channel.

📩 Everyone gets the link

Each buyer is DMed a direct link to the voice channel. DMs are best-effort — a blocked DM does not affect their access.

🔀 Change Access

Before you go live you can switch the voice room and optional private chats for this session only, without changing the product.

👥 Assign User

Admins can give other people permission to operate Events from /live. Assigned operators can run shows but cannot change the assignment list.

Ending the Show

Press End live when the session is over. PayBot marks the tickets as used, removes the temporary role, and closes the room. The permanent link immediately begins selling the next occurrence.

Only End live ends a session. Attendance is tracked, but people leaving the voice channel never closes the show — the session stays open until you close it.

Tickets, No-Shows & Refunds

🎟️ One seat per payment

Each payment creates one ticket tied to one occurrence. Ending the session consumes it.

🙈 No-shows

Depending on the Event's policy, someone who never joins either spends their ticket or carries it to the next session, keeping their original payment attached.

↩️ Refunds

A refund removes the seat. See Managing Subscriptions for how refunds are handled across PayBot.

🔁 Duplicate purchases

Blocked before payment. The buyer sees Your ticket is ready and is charged nothing.

Limits

👥 Room size

  • A Discord voice channel holds 99 people
  • A Stage channel holds 10 speakers and a much larger audience

🗓️ Not available yet

  • Scheduled one-time Events
  • Recurring Event series

You start and end each session yourself.

Channel privacy is yours to set. The voice channel must already deny access to @everyone before you point an Event at it. PayBot grants access to ticket holders; it does not make a public channel private.
